In support of the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation’s REIMAGINING HEALTHCARE campaign, Con’s Electric has made a $5,000 donation to help advance the Emergency Department Redevelopment Project.

Dans le cadre de la campagne Repenser les soins de santé de la Fondation de l’Hôpital de Timmins et du district, Con’s Electric a fait un don de 5 000 $ pour appuyer le projet de réaménagement du Service des urgences.
Cohen Courchesne, directeur des opérations, et Nick Clusiau, directeur général, ont déclaré : « L’Hôpital de Timmins et du district joue un rôle essentiel dans la vie d’innombrables personnes et familles de notre communauté. Que ce soit dans les moments de joie, de rétablissement ou lors d’imprévus, l’hôpital est présent lorsque les gens en ont le plus besoin. Congratulations to Annette Blais of Cochrane, the grand prize winner for September, who is taking home $112,710!
We started our phone call to Annette by asking about her email and her tickets. She was a bit confused, but we then shared the exciting news that she was September's grand prize winner! The first thing she said was "NO! I didn't win." We assured her she had won and she was in disbelief. Annette was filled with emotion over the news.
We called her back a little while later and she told us that she was doing better and had been able to relax a little. Her first call was to her brother.
She explained that she had been playing most months since the very beginning and is happy to be helping out the hospital as she has to come here from time to time.
When asked her initial plans with the win, she said that she will pay off some bills and she will have to think about the rest. She said "I never expected to win anything this big, so I didn't have a plan."
One final thing she shared, was 7 years ago this September she broke a mirror. She said her luck at bingo has been terrible during that time and was hoping that the end of her "7 years of bad luck" would come with a change to that luck. It certainly has!
We wrapped up by sharing that we were happy to make her day, to which Annette responded, "You didn't make my day! You made my life!"

When Timmins and District Hospital opened over 33 years ago, our Emergency Department was designed for 20,000 patient visits per year. Today, it receives over 43,000 visits annually. These pressures have increased over time and are attributed to the rising homeless population in Cochrane District, more patients without access to primary care support, limited after-hours urgent care options, and being a large referral center. Additionally, we have experienced immense pressure on our healthcare system because of the ongoing opioid crisis. Together with the more recent catalyst of COVID, the urgent need for a renovation of the Emergency Department is at the forefront.

Lors de son ouverture il y a plus de 33 ans, l'Hôpital de Timmins et du district avait conçu son service des urgences pour accueillir 20 000 patients par année. Aujourd'hui, il en reçoit plus de 43 000 annuellement. Cette augmentation de la pression s'explique par la hausse du nombre de personnes sans abri dans le district de Cochrane, le nombre croissant de patients n'ayant pas accès aux soins primaires, le nombre limité de services d'urgence en dehors des heures d'ouverture et le rôle important de l'hôpital comme centre de référence. De plus, la crise des opioïdes exerce une pression considérable sur notre système de santé. Avec la pandémie de COVID-19, la rénovation urgente du service des urgences est devenue une priorité absolue.
